The 9th Naton International Confucian Award Ceremony was held at the Chinese Culture Research Institute of Sichuan University on April 2nd to honor teachers and students who have devoted themselves to Confucianism education and research and achieved outstanding results. Yan Shijing, Vice President of Sichuan University, Zhao Yiwu, Vice President of International Confucian Association and Chairman of Naton Medical Group, Zhu Hanmin, Vice Chairman of International Confucian Association, and directors, academic committees from the International Confucian Institute of Sichuan University, as well as winners of the award, attended the ceremony. The award ceremony was hosted by Shu Dagang, dean of the International Confucian Institute of Sichuan University.
On behalf of Sichuan University, Yan Shijing expressed his gratitude to International Confucian Association and Nanton Group for setting up the award. He said that the establishment of Naton International Confucian Award not only promoted the development of Confucianism in Sichuan University, but also made important contributions to the research and dissemination of Confucianism. Confucianism is the core component of Chinese traditional culture and an important force to build cultural consciousness and cultural confidence and promote the transformation and development of traditional culture. The establishment of Naton International Confucian Award provides a stage for western Confucian scholars to display the achievements of Confucianism research and practice, which is of great significance for promoting the cultural construction and development in western China. Sichuan University is confident that the International Confucian Institute will be built into a leading and internationally renowned Confucian research center in China, and will make its due contribution to the creative transformation and innovative development of traditional Chinese culture.
Shu Dagang gave a brief introduction to the application and review of this year's awards. This year's Naton International Confucian Award is composed of three parts: "Excellent Essay Award", "Western Confucianism Contribution Award", and "Scholarship and Teaching Fund". After strict evaluation, a total of 11 excellent essays (4 finalists), 2 western Confucianism contribution awards, and 16 outstanding teachers and students were selected.
The winners said that Naton International Confucian Award encourages Confucianism researchers to devote themselves to the development and promotion of Confucianism in China and contribute to the inheritance and promotion of Confucianism.
In his concluding remark, Zhao Yiwu said that Confucianism in the west is an important part of Chinese traditional culture going global. He hoped that Naton International Confucian Award can contribute to the development of Confucianism in the west and help the inheritance of Confucian classics.
Naton International Confucian Award was established in Sichuan University by the International Confucian Association to encourage the research of Confucianism, promote the spirit of Confucianism, build the discipline of Confucianism and cultivate Confucian talents. It is the first Confucian award for postgraduates and teachers in Chinese universities. Since its establishment in 2010, the scale of the award has been continuously expanded.
