The Second Symposium on Chinese Brewing History held in Chengdu

On August 24th, 2019, the 2nd Symposium on Chinese Brewing History was held in Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences. The symposium was sponsored by Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences, School of History, Nanjing  University and Sujiu Group. Professor Li Yu from Nanjing  University, presided over the symposium and Professor Yao Leye, Vice President of Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences, delivered a speech. More than 20 experts and scholars from the Fudan University, Nanjing University, Anhui Normal University, Suzhou University, Sichuan University, Sichuan Normal University, other universities and institutes gathered to discuss the Chinese brewing history, wine history and wine culture.

 

Professor Yao Leye, Vice President of Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences, pointed out that Chinese wine culture has a long, extensive and profound history, which is a wonderful flower in Chinese traditional culture. Sichuan is an important region forChina's wine industry and culture, forming a Sichuan wine with "six golden famous brands" in the world. The experts and scholars from the upper and lower reaches of the Yangtze River gathered in Chengdu to discuss the discipline construction for Chinese brewing history and the inheritance from Chinese wine culture in the new era, which is an academic event. It is hoped that this symposium will serve as an opportunity to promote the study for wine culture and brewing history from the perspectives of history, culture, economics, communication, Microbiology and other disciplines.

 

The experts and scholars at the symposium focused on the discipline construction of Chinese wine culture and brewing history, and made a thorough discussion in the fields of broadening research horizons, inheritance of craftsmen skills, innovation of research methods, literature collation of wine culture, brand shaping of wine industry, regional wine-making technology comparison, population mobility. Experts believed that in the current historical period of comprehensive revival of traditional culture, wine history research should focus on culture, carry out multi-disciplinary research from the perspective of cultural inheritance and cultural innovation, start with the construction of theoretical system of wine history research, combine theoretical research with applied research, and contribute historical wisdom to social and economic development.
