International Trade Forum (2019) by China Society for World Economics was held in Sichuan University on March 23rd. It was sponsored by China Society for World Economics(CSWE), College of Economics of Sichuan University, World Economic Society of Sichuan Province, Research Institute of Macroeconomics of Sichuan University and organized by editorial offices of International Economic Review, Nankai Economic Review, Journal of Sichuan University (Philosophy and Social Science Edition). More than 100 experts and scholars from universities and scientific research institutes all over the country attended the forum, including Prof. Tong Jiadong from Nankai University, vice President of CSWE, Ms. Shao Binhong, secretary general of CSWE and researcher of Institute of World Economy and Politics of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Prof. Jia Huaiqin from University of International Business and Economics, and Prof. Cao Ping, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Sichuan University, etc.. The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Gong Qinlin, deputy dean of College of Economics of Sichuan University.
At the opening ceremony, Prof. Cao Ping, on behalf of Sichuan University, expressed welcome and thanks to all the guests, experts and scholars who came to this conference. She pointed out that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and is a crucial year to the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects. This conference is of important practical significance and good theoretical value to further understand the complex and changeable international economic situation and better analyze the problems in current world economy, international finance and international trade.
Professor Jiang Yongmu, dean of College of Economics of Sichuan University, introduced the development history of the college and the subject of world economy in detail.
Professor Tong Jiadong, on behalf of CSWE, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the organizers of this conference and analyzed the hot issues in economic field from the perspective of the discipline of world economy.
After the opening ceremony, several professors respectively made keynote speeches on economic integration and the plan of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area , digital trade rules and measures, Sichuan economic research based on the perspective of openness and US foreign economic policy and its influence on China, etc..
In the parallel session, experts made heated discussions around the international trade theory and experience research front, the change of global trade rules and multilateral trade system reform, the new trend of economic globalization and analysis of the new situation of China's foreign trade, trade war and prospects for economic and trade relations between China and the United States, "The Belt And Road", free trade zone and the international economic and trade cooperation, etc.. several professors also had a lively round-table discussion on how trade frictions between China and the United States will affect the world economy.
